Better Energy Flow
The experience of being in the zone, when everything clicks and we can do no wrong, is one most of us know.
Most of us also know what it’s like to be stuck, blocked, or marooned – when nothing clicks, and everything we do feels out of step with the world and our own internal experience.
What does it mean toclick? What does it mean to getstuck? Are these authentic states, or are they figments of our imagination?
A shift has begun to ripple across the West regarding its approach to health and disease. Physical, mental and spiritual health is increasingly understood by scientists, as well as by traditional healers, to be an expression of the flow of energy and information through (and around) our bodies.
Accordingly, disease and discomfort are understood to be signs of energy and information that has been blocked or constricted.
As a result of this shift, alternative health practices imported from the East (such as yoga, meditation, acupuncture and acupressure) have begun to show up inside Western medical and psychotherapy offices...places which have traditionally worked to distinguish themselves from the barefoot doctors and shamans of the East.
Moreover, techniques arising from fields such as Neuropsychology
and Energy Psychology
(both of which are at the forefront of researching, developing and assimilating these practices) have proved to be capable of releasing blocked energy and establishing healthier internal processes, sometimes with stunning ease. As such, they give medical practitioners, therapists, and the public an edge on the goals of healing and personal development.
All good therapy serves to relax the places that need relaxing and firm up the places that need firming so that energy becomes more directed, more distinct, and paradoxically, more free.
My therapy practice is eclectic, not only because I have a sizable appetite for advances in our awareness of the body-mind-spirit continuum, but because I suspect different kinds of blocks require different kinds of loosening. As such, I have begun to introduce various simple, brain-based techniques (culled from professional training and workshops), into my relationship with any client interested in exploring these options.
However one comes by it, the experience of flow
in the depths of ones being nurtures more than oneself - it ripples through layer upon layer of organic matter, and ultimately serves to heal the planet.
I am pleased to be a member of the health professions at this time in history. The integration of new and old perspectives of healing has the capacity to enliven our imagination, release our obstructions, and ultimately broaden the experience of our individual and collective journeys. There is no better growing edge to stand upon.
